Helping the community is very important to us at Parkend Carnival as it is ran for to local charities to raise money and to increase their public profile. Over the last seventeen years we have donated the following to local community groups.
Over the last 17 years we have donated to local organisations on 26 occasions. Read more about some of these donations below.
Saint Paul's Church
Saint Paul's Church is the village's most characterful building, and they approached us for funding to help with their organ restoration project.
Forest Flute Choir
The Forest Flute Choir was create by a local villager, Fiona Crawley, and the use the Memorial Hall as a practice and performance venue. As music funding is dwindling it is important to support musical ventures.
Parkend County Primary School
2002, 2004, 2005, 2012
Parkend County Primary School is the most important part of the community as it has provided education not just for the community but for the West Dean district, they also decorate and enter a carnival lorry each year in the procession.
Parkend Baptist Church
2001, 2004, 2007, 2012, 2014
The carnival has supported Parkend Baptist Church over several years, the building and the space has been a staple in the community with many of the villagers as well as people from outside the community visiting on a regular basis.
Parkend Memorial Hall
2000, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2018
Parkend Memorial Hall came to the carnival committee and requested funding for new windows. The hall is an important venue for the community, it supports both the Parkend Silver Band, Parkend Players, Parkend Ladies Group and many other regular groups.
